As she stands to look out the window she realizes its square shape and the wood trimming holding the double glass together to keep in the warmth and the comfort of a home. She does not look outside but at this plain looking window and wonders how this ordinary yet perfect square can hold the presence of a person and its power to look out into a world that could either be cold and oppressive or warm and pleasant. She sees her own reflection in the glass staring back at her and yet she questions how many reflections this window can hold and for how many years has this same reflection been seen with different faces both of sadness and of happiness. As she looks deeper into this frame of a window she imagines the many secrets that this plain looking window has preserve through the years. She knows very well that it has a function to look out, to open, and to close, to feel and smell the air with the beauty of the rain. She pauses to think that life also opens and closes just like this ordinary window can, but she stares and thinks of its true function. She examines the true meaning of this window. This is no ordinary window, it is actually the window of what she feels, smells and sees in her life. Her own life; and it can hold her darkest secrets without ever revealing it. She discovers that her own window becomes her own sanctuary, her own window.
